CarBuddii recently introduced the ability to add specific vehicle types, such as Vans, Trucks, Buses, and Minibuses, to your fleet inventory.
Previously, all vehicles had to be added under a generic "Car" profile. Now, if your account has the Trucks or "Varevogn" (Van) feature enabled, selecting the correct vehicle type provides significant benefits—including more accurate vehicle images and the ability to report damages on a digital outline of a truck rather than a generic car!
However, if a large truck or van was previously added to your fleet using the generic "Car" category, you might experience issues or sudden crashes when selecting that vehicle in the CarBuddii mobile app.
The Solution: Recreate the Vehicle with the Correct Category
To resolve the app crash and take full advantage of the new damage reporting features, you simply need to delete the incorrectly categorised vehicle and add it back to your Garage as a Truck or Van.
Step 1: Delete the existing vehicle
Log in to the CarBuddii web dashboard (
app.carbuddii.com).Navigate to The Garage tab.
Locate the truck or van that is causing the issue.
Click on the vehicle to open its settings, and delete it from your active fleet. (Note: If this vehicle is currently tied to an active rental in Plan-it, you must terminate that settlement before deleting the vehicle).
Step 2: Add the vehicle with the correct category
Still in The Garage, click the + New vehicle button in the top right corner.
Enter the vehicle's registration number or enter the data manually.
When selecting the vehicle type, do not select the generic "Car" option. Make sure to select Truck, Varevogn (Van), or the specific heavy-duty category that matches the vehicle.
Fill in the remaining details and save.
Problem: "I don't see the Van / Varevogn option in the drop menu?"
No worries! Reach out to our Support team and we will make sure the category is added in your account so you can go ahead and make these changes in your fleet.
Once the vehicle is recreated with the proper truck/van categorisation, your staff can immediately book it in the mobile app without experiencing any crashes, and they will see the correct truck outline when reporting new damages!
